  • Dr. Tim Gabbett, an authority in the world of sport science, will join co-hosts Jared Maynard and John Flagg for a discussion of a very hot topic: training workloads and their relationship to athletic injuries. The discussion will focus on a review of the existing literature and touch on:

  • Where the concept of acute:chronic workload ratio came from, and what need it was meant to address for clinicians and coaches?

  • Whether the ACWR seems to be a viable and useful injury prediction tool?

  • Whether athletes are being held back in an effort to avoid high workload ratios?

  • What weaknesses might exist in the workload research at the moment?

  • What do people misinterpret or misconstrue about ACWR?

  • What could be done to make this concept more useful? What future research is in the works now?
